AIDS Manifestations

HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) will weaken our body defense system. It destroys one of our white blood cells: Lymphocyte type CD4+. When our body immune system is totally failed and compromised this condition is called as AIDS (Acquire Immune Deficiency Syndrome). Some of HIV tested positive patients never realize that they already infected until the AIDS manifestation occurs about 3-10 years after the infection, as you know IV-drug-abuse takes the first rank of the transmission of the HIV. IV drug users who involved should consider to test their blood for HIV, because when they fall into AIDS, it is so difficult to treat the multiple infections that manifest.
1. Oral Thrush
This infection occurs at oral cavity happened in AIDS patients. Oral thrush is caused by fungus: Candida albicans. Oral thrush can cause the loss of taste sensation on tongue.

2. PCP (Pneumocystic Carinii Pneumonia)
PCP usually happens in small children because their immune system have not worked perfectly. So this PCP can be found at any AIDS patient and cause mild to severe pneumonia. Any doctor would alert about PCP as one of the AIDS manifestations.

3. Tuberculosis
Since TB is widely spread in the world, most people with early symptom of AIDS would manifest with TB. This disease is caused by a bacteria that resistant to acid: Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Since Tuberculosis is a systemic disease, in AIDS patient it can cause lung or lymph node tuberculosis. The most severe lymph node tuberculosis is Scrofuloderma.

4. Encephalitis
The common brain inflammation in AIDS patients is caused by the infection of CMV (Cyto Megalo Virus). This virus could cause severe damage to the brain until the dysfunction of movement, comma, even to the disorder of sensation.
