If you just watched “Due Date” you found something that might put you in such of a curiosity: medical marijuana to treat glaucoma. What is glaucoma? And how should marijuana taken to treat such? Keep reading!

Glaucoma is the damage of the optical nerve with the increasing of the eyeball pressure (IOP = Intra Ocular Pressure) as the result of it. There are two types of glaucoma: open and closed angle type. Apparently, glaucoma is the number one cause of the blindness cause in Unites States, and number two in Indonesia. Open angle or chronic glaucoma is the most found type of glaucoma among the patients, thus it progressively cause the blindness. In 1970, a research found that marijuana can decrease the IOP those of glaucoma patients. Eventually, NEI (National Eye Institute) continued this research in 1978, created derivatives of marijuana into oral administration and showed some significant result of the decreasing of IOP.

But, since the using of marijuana is still illegal so it is not suggested that any chronic glaucoma patient to consume it as the sole treatment. Obviously, there are many legal treatments from drug administration to the eye surgeries. However, the side effects of marijuana are more dangerous than the main effect to the eye. So if you have a glaucoma, never hope that your doctor would prescribe some marijuana!

When I opened my newspaper this morning, I was a bit surprised with the news of inhalant abuse that happened in 4 years old boy. He has been inhaling gasoline since he was 2 years old. I think you ever saw this kind of inhalant abuse on street children. Do you want to know how exactly inhalant abuse works? Do follow this article!

Inhalant abuse can be categorize as addictive because it makes the people to do it again and again. There are many substances that could inflict inhalant abuse: glue, gasoline, hair spray, and ink. As these substances have fume aroma, it makes the people who inhale these to have focused concentration and sometimes hallucination on stronger substances.

Having this inhalant abuse excessively will sometimes cause sudden sniffing death, pneumonia, cardiac arrest, and poisoning.

Withdrawal symptoms of inhalant abuse are:
1. Confusing
2. Emotional disturbances
3. Motor disorder

If you have something that may has fume aroma like gasoline, make sure you close it tightly and put it aside from the your children. Do not let your children sniff any hair spray, ink, or any other substances that may cause inhalant abuse.

This may happen to your kid, if your kid is already on inhalant abuse, make sure to bring him or her to the drug rehabilitation center to have medication against his or her addiction to the inhalant abuse.
