There Are Types Of Detox Programs For Every Addict

Detoxification is a process whereby an alcoholic or drug addict is given help getting through short-term withdrawal symptoms when they stop taking their substance of choice.

There are types of detox to suit every stage that the addicted person has to go through. One of the most common types of detox is the in-patient facility. This is appropriate when the addicted person has a more serious physical dependence on drugs or alcohol.

The in-patient type of detox is indicated when some kind of medical supervision is deemed to be necessary to monitor how the patient is handling the withdrawal process. The process is usually one to two weeks long. The addict may receive medication to alleviate their symptoms – or the anxiety and depression that might come from stopping their substance.

This is also one of the types of detox (it may go under the title of medical detox) where the addict may be given a drug that is closely related to the one they’re addicted to. By gradually reducing the dose, the detox is able to wean the addict’s body off of the drug. This makes it possible for them to move to a drug treatment program where they have the chance to begin to change their way of life.

Another of the most common types of detox is the outpatient program. This may also involve medication to alleviate withdrawal symptoms but it allows the addict or alcoholic to continue to live at home and to go about their daily life. This is usually indicated when the addict was a less heavy user or drinker.

Depending on the substance in question, other types of detox that an addict might choose include a heroin detox, cocaine detox, opiate detox, or alchohol detox.

I just added your blog site to my blogroll, I pray you would give some thought to doing the same.

Exaggeration is a blood relation to falsehood and nearly as blamable.

I act for the reality, for the moment, and most of all I do it for the process.
