What is a Christian intervention?
A Christian intervention is for families whose lives are centered in Christianity and would feel more comfortable having a Christian intervention to help bring a loved one back.
A Christian intervention is carried out with a foundation in faith by an interventionist who has accepted Christ as his personal savior. It Bible based and is ideal for people who have a Christian upbringing and the use of drugs or alcohol has separated him/her from the presence of God, this is also used for people going through the court systems by introducing them to Jesus Christ as their personal savior.
A lot of people with substance abuse problems may think that it is God who has detached himself from them, but in reality, it is they who allowed hundreds of situations to divert them from their connection to the spirituality of God.
Substance abusers replace detached feelings with synthetic feelings of connection to other people and the world around them and these synthetic feelings are merely a trap that fades away over time and leaves the substance abuser emptier than ever. The substance abuser world always feels void and he sinks in him trying to make himself forget, so what does he do? He uses again and again until he hits rock bottom.
Even in those trying times, God is still working the lives of everyone, it is hard to see but there is a lesson behind every situation and a path to glory when one is awaken.
Once established that your loved one needs an intervention, a Christian interventionist arrives at your home and gives his testimony, giving the family inspiring hope, then on the following day, the substance abuser is surrounded by those who loves him in the room of choice, he does not feel loved at the moment because through shame and guilt, he feels alone.
The letters are slowly read and a heavenly feeling begins to fill the room. If there are objections from the substance abuser, the Christian interventionist is there to handle them one by one. Finally, on most occasions, the substance abuser will agree to treatment which makes the family very happy, and for a brief moment they are able to see a hint of God’s work.
Romans 8:28 …And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Christians wonder if an intervention is a judgmental act and suffice to say it is reasonable by the fact that an intervention act is done through love and care because a well run Christian intervention or a traditional intervention lights God’s lamp, bringing glory to God through good works and an increasing of faith.
Past actions of a substance abuser are not harshly judged instead it is done with an act of love and a successful outcome is celebrated, going by the example in the bible of the prodigal son, which the other son asked his father, why are you having such a feast for a bad son, and the father’s reply can be found in Luke 15:32, which states, “but we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found”.
Some people may not want to have a Christian intervention or any intervention and may even have sound reasons why not, but during the decision one thing you must ask yourself is, if it was you who are suffering and trapped by the world of substance abuse, would you want someone to intervene on your behalf?
