Drugs origin

Many people who have substance abuse problems are not aware of how these substances came about; the following is a briefing of the origin and ideas of the substances rampant among our society:

Heroin or diacetylmorphine or diamorphine is a natural opioid, synthesized directly from the extracts of the opium poppy.  It is the 3.6 – diacetyl derivatives of morphine and is synthesized from it by acetylation.  The opium poppy has been used since early Mesopotamian times, basically in the form of codeine and morphine.  Heroin was first synthesized in 1874 by C.R Alder Write, an English chemist who worked at St. Mary’s hospital and medical school in London England.  From 1898 to 1910 heroin was not illegal but became illegal in 1914.

Cocaine is a crystalline tropane alkaloid that is obtained from the leaves of the coca plant.  It was first concocted by the German chemist Friedrich Gaedeke in 1855.  In 1859, Albert Niemann, a PH.D student at the University of Gottingen in Germany developed an improved purification process and named the alkaloid cocaine.  In 1886 Coca-Cola was invented and its original formula included cocaine but it was eliminated in 1903 and became illegal in 1914.  Crack is a form of cocaine base that was created from the basuco formula “allegedly” by the CIA in Nicaragua in the 1980s.

LSD or lysergic acid diethylamide is a semisynthetic psychedelic drug.  It is synthesized from lysergic acid derived from ergot, a grain fungus that typically grows on rye.  It was created in 1938, by Swiss chemist Dr. Albert Hofmann at the Sandoz laboratories in Basel Switzerland.  The Cold War intelligence services were very interested in the possibilities of using LSD for interrogation and mind control.  The CIA conducted extensive research under the file project MK-ULTRA in the 1950s.  Apparently Dr. Timothy Leary and Richard Alpert aka Baba Ram Das leaked it to society.

Methamphetamine is a psychostimilant drug.  It is prescribed for attention deficit hyperactivity disorders or narcolepsy under the brand name desoxyn.  It was first synthesize from ephedrine in Japan in 1893 to 1898 by a chemist named Nagayoshi Nagai.  In 1919 crystallized methamphetamine was synthesized by Akira Ogata.  The original compound was created in Germany in 1887 by Lazar Edeleanu.  The earliest uses of amphetamines occurred during WW2 when the German military dispensed it under the trade name Pervitin.  Chocolate doses with methamphetamines during the war were called Fliegerschokolade meaning flyers chocolate.  Bikers brought it to the illegal drug market in the 1980s, although some celebrities were known to use forms of amphetamines in earlier years.

Marijuana is a completely natural product. Despite what people know about marijuana, it is grown completely natural and does not have to be synthesized.  Growers do not lace their weeds with LSD or cocaine to make people trip out…that theory is absurd as it would affect the cost.  The fact is most people that claim they trip out are, young people trying to get attention or they have high accounts of nitrogen in the brain.  If you are part of the small percentage of people with high accounts of nitrogen in your brain then marijuana will make you feel higher than others and you can possibly hallucinate.  On another note the THC on the marijuana plant is the medicine, and has nothing to do with LSD, nor is it in any way a resemblance; however, the leaf itself has other harmful chemicals and smoking marijuana the “traditional way” for recreational use eliminates the purpose of the THC and is unhealthy.

Nicotine is more addictive than heroin and results in over 500,000 deaths a year, the same can be said for alcohol, yet both of these are cheap, legal and very available.  Despite what we know now, scientist and doctors told the world that neither was addictive…   So why are some drugs illegal and other’s not…

In the US alone the illegal drug industry is recorded at 65 billion dollars a year and 500 billion worldwide, which doesn’t even count payment to the police, military and prison industries that cost tax payers to fight the war on drugs while making profits for individual industries that supply products to the police, military and prison industries. Prohibition in the early 1900s gave way to illegal activity and since then has caused:

The most unethical people to become extremely wealthy
- It is responsible for up to 70% of crimes

- It created the need to have multi-billion dollar prison systems.

- It cost the public money to increase the budget every year because police claim they can’t keep up with the funding that gangsters have.

- It keeps slavery alive

- It funded many black list projects

- It literally caused the near extinction of several cultures

- It has led to the restrictions of people’s social and political freedoms

- It has made criminals out of millions of people that wouldn’t usually be associated with violent crimes.
