Alcohol and Drug addiction are conditions that affect not only the addict or alcoholic but also the family system as a whole. We have developed a Family Program to meet the needs of those who have been impacted by another person's alcohol or drug problem.
The goal of our Family Program is to introduce participants to the principles of recovery, along with providing necessary social and emotional support. The educational component of the Family Program takes place once a week and assists the client and family members in understanding the complicated web of addiction and its impact on the family as a whole.
When someone falls victim to a drug or alcohol addiction, the effect on them are easy to see. Often they lose the things that were once important to them – including their families.
When the will exists to repair this damage, then a rehab center that offers a family program is likely to be the best choice.
Often, addiction and addictive behaviours can be rooted in the past of the addict. Childhood trauma or expose to other addicts in early life can increase the chances that someone will become an addict themselves as they grow older. And these lingering traumas can be completely intertwined with the addict`s family.
In the family program of the rehab center, professional counsellors will offer opportunities for group counselling that will allow the addict and the members of their family to work towards healing. This will involve complete honesty and open-mindedness on all sides.
The idea of a family program is based on the concept that the addict is not the only one affected by their disease of addiction. Recovery will be much more likely to be successful when the addict and their emotional support system (in other words their loved ones) are moving in the same direction.
And focus is also put on the family`s emotional health, and on how they can remain psychologically healthy while their loved one receives treatment for their disease.
The family program approach can involve the addict speaking to a counsellor about their family issues, at the same time as the family members are given the chance in other sessions to share how they have been harmed by their family member`s addiction.

The umbrella term "drug rehabilitation", also referred to as "drug rehab", is a complex of therapeutic measures and procedures (pharmaceutical, psychotherapeutic, medical, etc.) to help an individual get rid of his or her drug dependency, including psychological and physical types of dependency on various psychoactive agents, such as "street drugs" (amphetamine, crystal meth, heroin, cocaine, etc.), alcohol, prescription drugs, and so on. Various measures of drug rehabilitation are intended to enable the drug user to quit taking drugs and, therefore, to avoid numerous negative consequences and implications of substance abuse - legal, physical, physiological, social, and financial.
