Drug Inhalants

Inhalants Drug Addiction

One of the least understood forms of addiction is inhalants drug addiction. This results from the abuse of certain chemicals that are inhaled. These chemicals are usually found in common household products.

The thing that separates these substances from others that can be inhaled is that they are not really ever found in another form.

Among the most common types of inhalants that cause inhalants drug addiction are solvents. These are liquids that vaporize at room temperature. The person suffering from the inhalants drug addiction simply opens the cap of the product and inhales. The result is some kind of intoxicating and mind altering effect, which differs with the product.

The best known inhalant is glue, but there are several other types. These include gasoline, paint thinners, dry-cleaning fluid and degreasers. Not only do these lead to inhalants drug addiction, but they can also cause permanent damage if used long enough.

Among the potential permanent effects of this type of inhalants drug addiction are hearing loss, brain damage, liver and kidney damage, and limb spasms.

Another form of inhalant is gases. These are inhalants that are often used for medicinal purposes. Among these are chloroform, nitrous oxide, ether, and halothane. Other forms can be found in whipped cream cans, butane for lighters, propane tanks and refrigerants. Inhalants drug addiction can also result from these atypical drugs.

Both of these types of inhalants act on the body’s central nervous system to produce a euphoric effect. There is another form of inhalant that acts differently on the body. Nitrites can be used to enhance sexual feelings, including increasing the intensity of orgasms. These drugs are commonly known as “poppers” and are often sold under fake labels (leather cleaner, etc.)

The umbrella term "drug rehabilitation", also referred to as "drug rehab", is a complex of therapeutic measures and procedures (pharmaceutical, psychotherapeutic, medical, etc.) to help an individual get rid of his or her drug dependency, including psychological and physical types of dependency on various psychoactive agents, such as "street drugs" (amphetamine, crystal meth, heroin, cocaine, etc.), alcohol, prescription drugs, and so on. Various measures of drug rehabilitation are intended to enable the drug user to quit taking drugs and, therefore, to avoid numerous negative consequences and implications of substance abuse - legal, physical, physiological, social, and financial.

We understand that recovery is a very personal thing, especially for busy and successful high-powered executives. That’s why we say that all communications are confidential, before, during and after recovery.
